1948 Hetchins Super Special
Hetchins frames are reknowned for their highly ornate lug patterns and curved stays and have become
one of the most highly sought after marques.  Founded by Harry Hetchins, production of Hetchins
cycles began in 1935. Hetchins has a distinguished
racing heritage, counting World and Olympic
Championships among their innumerable victories. Toni Merkins rode his Hetchins to numerous
victories and his trademark curved handlebar stem, known as a Merkins stem, is featured on this
bicycle.  Hetchins curly stay track frames are very rare in any lug pattern, and this track machine
features the rare
Super Special lug pattern, of which 24 examples are known to have survived.
