The terms “antique, classic and vintage” are often used interchangeably when talking about many things, racing bicycles included. There are no established cutoff dates when applying these terms to racing bicycles, but as a general guideline, this website will consider those bicycles built prior to 1940 to be antiques, bikes built between 1940 and 1989 to be classics, and the term “vintage” used as an all encompassing term to describe any bicycle built prior to 1990. |
